Jenkinson’s Boardwalk
Are you looking for somewhere to visit and you just aren’t sure where to go? Maybe you should go to Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. It was opened in the early 1900’s by Charles Jenkinson.
Jenkinson’s has many things to do there. There are many fun rides. There are rides for little kids and there are others for older kids. There are also arcades and a rooftop miniature golf. There are sweets, foods, and even a fun house. There is an aquarium that everyone will love, with all kinds of sea creatures and other kinds of animals too. There are many more things to do. You can have an ocean view and also take a walk on the beach.
It’s located at Pt. Pleasant Beach. It is closed in the winter, but in the summer there are fireworks.
There is so much more to do here at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. I bet you’ll love it. Jenkinson’s is important to me because it is fun and it brings families closer together.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center
If you like sea animals go to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. It is located in Brigantine, NJ. The Center was built in 1978 and already had nineteen stranding reports. Fifteen years later they responded to 123 stranding reports. The Center and the volunteers that work there had to aid more than 1,000 stranded marine mammals. When possible the marine mammals are brought to the Center for re-habitation and released back into their natural habitat. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is part of a group that goes along the Atlantic coastline from Maine to Virginia. It’s an organization that lets the public look for dolphins and save these and other marine mammals when they need help.
People are more than welcome to visit the Sea Life Museum, a small learning center which has hands on exhibits and from time to time offers the study of marine life based on learning programs.
School groups can tour the Center and join in a program. Teachers can call and talk about their needs with the Center staff. The Center is important to me because I love animals.

Strand Theater
Have you ever been to the historic Strand Theater? Do you like musicals?
The Strand Theater opened in 1922 in Lakewood N.J and has been completely redone. In 1982, it was added to the Register of Historical Places.
The Strand Theater is currently featuring “School House Rock Live” a musical which combines songs and live action in a really fun performance.
The Strand Theater has shows that feature the Arts Power National Tour Theater, American Theater Arts for kids, and The Paper Bag Players which are both educational and entertaining shows.
A summer Theater Youth Camp is offered yearly which provides instruction on acting, singing, dancing, and auditioning. Campers will have the chance to audition for a show with a kid’s theater group. Also, the campers will see a Broadway show and meet a professional actor.
During Christmas time last year the Strand presented “Scrooge the Musical” featuring many actors from kid’s musical theater groups.
Your school might be interested in scheduling a tour of the Strand. You will see the beautiful Strand as you learn about its history, visit backstage, dressing rooms and a secret tunnel.

The Twin Lights
Have you ever heard about the Twin Lights? One of the largest and brightest lights of the day is the Twin Lights. The Twin Lights was built in 1828, perched on top of the Highlands, overlooking Sandy Hook. The Twin Lights fell apart eventually. A new one was built in 1862 except with a bit larger structure. Visitors can climb the 64 steps to see the interior of the lighthouse looks like inside. Later in 1862 the Twin Lights became the first electrically powered lighthouse .It has a nine foot diameter lens that produces twenty-five million candle powers.
The reflection from the Twin Lights can be seen from seventy miles away by sea. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1949. It became a historic site in 1960. The Twin Lights is a great place for family outings and reunions and much more. The area around summertime is very busy because the Twin Lights are right between the beach and the North Tower. I picked to write about the Twin Lights because this lighthouse saved many people from crashing ships.
